DEMOGRAPHIC FACTS ABOUT ALL TERRAIN VEHICLES IN NEW YORK STATE

More than 80% of ATV households in New York State support an increase in registration fees to support an ATV trail fund.  [Actually 86% of 1,800 riders surveyed by NYSORVA in 1999. See the Survey Report here: 
More than 150,000 families in New York State currently own at least one off-highway vehicle [1.8/household per industry research].  By year-end 2002, 117,366 ATVs were REGISTERED and another at least 140,000 ATVs were estimated to have gone UNREGISTERED.  

The average age of a new ATV owner in 2001 was 40.  72% of ATV owners are married, and 58% are college educated.  The national average household income of ATV owners in 2001 was $69,200, while one in four ATV families had a household income in excess of $75,000.

New York State has one of the fastest growing ATV populations in the United States.  In 2002, ATV sales increased 41%, placing New York third behind only California and Texas in total expansion of the sport.
